With a separate wing for the children, the ultimate family home has glided onto Brisbane’s prestige property market.
“Linstarfield“, in the affluent suburb of Clayfield, sits on 3000 square metres of land and boasts an internal footprint of 834 square metres.
Selling agent Darren Curtis, of Christie’s International Real Estate, said the residence held its own with Brisbane’s finest homes.
“The location is second to none, and within that location it’s on one of the best blocks,” he said.
Owner Jo Farrugia purchased the home 10 years ago with her husband, and Mr Curtis said the pair had continually added to and improved it, while retaining many of the original features.
The six-bedroom, five-bathroom home is for sale via expressions of interest, with an initial price guide of $12 million to $13 million.
Ms Farrugia is the executive director of a collection of boutique hotels operating in Australia under the Waves Resorts and other brands.
Now her three daughters are grown up, Ms Farrugia has decided to downsize. Mr Curtis said the couple planned on staying in the area, “just in a more suitable property to their needs now”.
The original home was built in the 1920s, but the “west wing” dedicated to a children’s retreat – with three bedrooms, a rumpus room and kitchenette – is a modern addition.
The home’s main bedroom suite comes with a marble bathroom and twin dressing rooms. A separate, self-contained cottage works as guest accommodation or another teenage retreat.
Also included in the property are a pool and large outdoor entertaining spaces, a sauna, stream room, gym, home cinema and wine cellar.
There is undercover parking for six cars and plenty of driveway space for more.
Mr Curtis said the “high-end family home” was close to all the best amenities.
“It is within a short distance to some of the area’s best public and private education,” he said.
Mr Curtis said the best feature of the home, however, was the tasteful combination of old, period detailing and modern luxuries.
